Often the words, “I love you,” are spoken. They are thrown around here and there to and from many people. Sometimes they hold deep meaning, and sometimes they are vainly spoken. Giddy, young couples use these words. They are spoken by mothers to their children. Friends often use them in parting.
What is the height of love? What is the ultimate display of love? What is the source of love? Where does it really come from?
According to 1 John 4:16, “God is love…” Love comes from God. He is the source of all true love. It must come from Him.
The Bible says in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” So a true friend, one who really loves, will die for his friend. There can be no greater display of love than dying for someone else. Could you do it? Could you die for someone else? What if they were your worst enemy? Could you do it then?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”-John 3:16. So God, who is love, sent His own Son to die for the sins of the World. Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice. He didn’t just die for His family or His close friends. He died for the World! He died as much for the thief who died beside Him as He died for His own mother. He laid down His life for those that slew Him just as He did for the rest of the World. He died just as much for Judas as He did for you and me. Could there be a greater love?
Do you know His love? Have you claimed it as your own? If not, why? It’s free. The price is paid. All your sins and faults can be erased. Just claim Christ’s free gift of Salvation. He’ll save you from sin and from Hell. His love is all you need.
Christian, are you discouraged? Have you lost your zeal for Christ and His work? Remember His love. Go back to the beginning. It all started with a sinner who was saved by grace. Yes, by grace, but also by amazing love. Take courage. Don’t give up! Don’t give in! Keep pressing forward. Seek God. Show His love to others. Remember His love and take strength. Keep on and see what God, in His love, will do through you. Just trust in the greatest love.
